Do you charge to set up or take down?
At KMGC we do not charge extra for set up or for take down. Time wise, we will need about 1.5 hours prior and 1.0 hour after most events, to set up and tear down. With lighting, we will need additional time prior and at the end of your event. You pay only for the time we play music.
Do you charge extra for mileage?
KMGC does not charge extra for mileage if you're event is within a 35 mile range. Outside this 35 mile range is subject to a small additional fee.
Do you take song requests?
In a short answer, yes. The issue with requests is that some music is very explicit, some has adult language or adult oriented content that may not have the explicit language (such as sexual references). Older music prior to music labels having to put 'Parental Warnings' may have explicit language (such as 'Hair Of The Dog" by Nazareth). Although we strive to play the rating(s) you want, enabling requests can put into play any of these issues.
Is the music you play OK to hear by all family members such as kids and older adults?
We play music that you ask for. If you want clean music with no language and non-explicit lyrics, we will play that music and nothing else. If you want to start with clean lyrics and work into more explicit later, we can do this too. It is your event, so we will play what you want to hear. As stated above, enabling the ability for others to make requests can cause some rating issues with the requested music from your guests.
Do you have anything for kids?
We do have music for kids to enjoy as well as participation style dances such as The Chicken Dance, The Hokey Pokey as well as Limbo with Limbo Stick(s) and Hula Hoops if you have the space needed. We work hard to be family friendly at every event unless you ask for different.
Do you do non-mainstream events?
We will provide our services without question to anyone and everyone. If you are having a 420 event, an alternative adult lifestyle party or a same-sex party, celebration or reception, as long as the event is legal, we have no problem with providing our services to make your event a big success and fun for everyone.
Do you have more than one DJ or will you hire other DJ's for my event?
KMGC Productions has one DJ (Gil) and KMGC will do only one event per day. KMGC does not hire other DJ's as we want to personally ensure your event is how you want it to be. No surprises on who may show up on your special day, as whom you meet from day one will be the same person who will play at your event until the last song....Gil.
What are the basic requirements that you need to DJ our event?
KMGC needs at a minimum: 1 reliable power receptacle, a space of about 10 feet wide and 10 feet deep. If you add lighting, we will need more than one power receptacle and more space. We prefer that power receptacles be on different circuits and a provided space of 20 feet wide and 15 feet deep so speakers can be spaced wider apart for better sound. Basically, the wider and larger the area is for our setup, the better.
The area I need a DJ to be set up in, is a long ways from an electrical outlet, will this work?
In general, we do not like to use extension cords. If the outlet is less than 50 feet away, it should not pose much of a problem. More than 50 feet could cause issues with steady, uninterrupted power.
There are stairs to where we want a DJ to set up, is this OK?
We do not mind a few stairs, but due to the weight and size of our subwoofer(s), we are unable to do an event with many stairs using subwoofer(s).
Do you match other DJ Services pricing?
Due to each service using different equipment and setup, it would be impossible for us to be similar to another service or for them to be similar to ourselves, so we do not match prices. We truly feel that due to the work and time we put into each and every event, our experience as a business and Gil's experience and expertise as a DJ, the quality and expense of our sound equipment and lighting, our pricing is truly hard to beat.
If you judge a service based on price alone, you are likely to not get the best overall bargain or value in the long run and your special occasion could end, very disappointing to you and your guests. Their music may not be the highest quality or limited song selection. The sound system could be sub-par, banged up or possibly an inexperienced DJ. You won't get a second chance, as your special day is, a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Is there a time limit on a written or verbal pricing quote?
Our price quotes we give in written and/or verbal form are valid for a period of 7 Days. Within the 7 day period, if you want to hire KMGC for your event and we schedule a date and time to meet, the quoted price will be valid until meeting date (generally within a week).
Do you require a deposit or retainer to hold the date for our event?
KMGC Productions does require a retainer of $150 to hold your date and is payable when signing contract. The deposit is non-refundable should you cancel. UPDATE: Although the retainer is non-refundable, in the event that a state mandate is issued and you are forced to cancel your date due to the state mandate, we will either refund your retainer or reschedule your event date.
Do you work with non-profit organizations with pricing?
